Bihar is preparing for assembly elections this year, and different political parties are announcing their plans. They are promising what they will do for the people if they come to power. Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav has also made several promises. Along with providing 200 units of free electricity, he has announced the Mai Bahin Maan Yojana, which aims to support women financially.

However, political strategist Prashant Kishor (PK) believes that this scheme will fail. He has also given a reason for this claim.

Where will Rs 1.5 lakh crore come from?

Prashant Kishor criticized the RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal), saying that his organization, Jan Suraaj, does not make false promises like RJD. He explained that RJD’s Mai Bahin Maan Yojana promises to give Rs 2,500 per month to every woman in Bihar.

There are about 6 crore women in Bihar. If each woman receives Rs 2,500 every month, the total yearly cost will be around Rs 1.5 lakh crore. However, Bihar’s total budget is only Rs 2.4 lakh crore. So, how will the government arrange Rs 1.5 lakh crore every year?

‘False promises that will never be fulfilled’

Prashant Kishor further said that from the very first day, RJD knows that it cannot fulfill this promise. He added that Jan Suraaj is different from other parties. They will only make promises that they can fully deliver. Before making any commitment, they will research and explain how they plan to fulfill it.
