A big controversy is happening in Bihar over the special voter list review process. On Friday (04 July 2025), Purnea MP Pappu Yadav expressed his anger and asked reporters,
“Is the Election Commission God? Is it like Aladdin’s magic lamp?”

He said this is now a do-or-die fight for the dignity of Bihar and the rights of the poor. He even said, “If I have to give my life for this, I will.”

🗳️ What Did Congress Leader Pawan Khera Say?

In Delhi, Congress leader Pawan Khera also raised questions about the Election Commission’s plan. He said:

“If the goal is to delete names from the list, that’s easy. The real challenge is if your intention is honest.”

He said that:

  • In 2003, the same voter list review in Bihar took one full year.
  • But now the Election Commission wants to finish it in just 25 days.
  • He added, “You clearly want to delete names without checking documents.”
  • He warned that “no single institution can act like a dictator in a democracy.”

⚖️ What Did Nitish Kumar’s Party Say?

JD(U), the party of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, also gave its opinion.

Party leader Neeraj Kumar said:

“The job of reviewing the voter list belongs to the Election Commission. We only expect that every person who is eligible to vote must not be left out.”

He added:

  • Anyone who meets the rules should have the right to vote.
  • The process should be fair and transparent.
