Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi has reacted to PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ scheme. He sarcastically said that government gifts have no value if Muslims are not given their constitutional rights. He added, “It is funny that ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ is being given, but Muslims’ rights are being taken away.”
“Every Mosque Now Has a Temple Below It” – Abu Azmi
Abu Azmi said that Muslims’ rights are being violated in the country. He claimed that Muslims are attacked in mosques, and that many mosques are now being claimed as temples. He also mentioned the recent Nagpur incident, where a Muslim man was allegedly killed without reason.
“An Atmosphere Against Muslims” – Abu Azmi
Abu Azmi accused the government of creating a hostile environment against Muslims. He pointed out that when Muslims received Haj subsidies, it was called ‘freebies,’ but now, Muslims are facing more injustices.
He said, “I request the government, don’t give us gifts, keep them. Don’t give us jobs either. Just give us dignity and respect. Don’t take away our rights.”
What Did Abu Azmi Say About Muslim Safety in UP?
Abu Azmi demanded that Muslims should get the same rights as given in the Constitution by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Talking about Muslims’ condition in Uttar Pradesh, he said:
“Holi comes once a year, but Friday prayers happen 52 times a year. Does that mean Muslims should not leave their houses on Fridays? What kind of security is this? Why should mosques be covered with tarpaulins? Is this what respect looks like?”

He concluded by saying that Muslims are the most troubled and targeted community today. Instead of giving gifts, the government should ensure equal rights and constitutional protection for Muslims.
