Budget Session 2025: Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and Member of Parliament (MP) from Kannauj, Akhilesh Yadav, has announced that he is considering resigning. Before this, SP MP from Faizabad, Avadesh Prasad, also expressed his intention to resign. However, both MPs have cited different reasons for their potential resignations, leading to a political controversy.

Avadesh Prasad, after the tragic incident in Ayodhya where a Dalit youth was killed, broke down in a press conference and vowed to resign if justice was not served to the victim’s family. He said, “If justice is not done to the Dalit girl, I will resign from my position as an MP.” In response, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called this an act of drama, claiming that if an investigation was conducted, a Samajwadi Party leader might also be found guilty.

On the other hand, Akhilesh Yadav raised questions in the Lok Sabha regarding the stampede at the Maha Kumbh, which led to a debate. After BJP MPs interrupted him, Akhilesh Yadav said, “If I am wrong in what I am saying, then I offer my resignation to the Speaker.”
