A shocking robbery took place in Ashok Vihar, Delhi, where a retired Delhi University professor, Om Prakash Agarwal, and his wife, Lalita Agarwal, were held hostage in their own home. The most surprising fact was that their maid was involved in planning this crime.
How Did the Robbery Happen?
The 17-year-old maid, who worked in the house, was reportedly the girlfriend of the mastermind, Sachin. She informed Sachin about the cash and jewelry kept in the house. Using this information, Sachin and his three accomplices—Suraj, Monu, and Amit—planned the robbery.
- On March 17 (Monday) morning, the maid left the door open while working.
- Around 10 AM, four armed robbers entered the house.
- They threatened the professor and his wife at gunpoint.
- The robbers tied up the couple and the maid, covering their mouths with tape.
- They searched the house for 30 minutes and stole cash, jewelry, and valuables worth crores.
- Before leaving, they also took the professor’s car.
How Did the Police Solve the Case?
After receiving the complaint, DCP (Crime) Aditya Gautam formed two police teams led by ACP Ramesh Lamba and Inspectors Shivraj Singh Bisht and Rohit Kumar.
- The robbers abandoned the stolen car in Wazirpur JJ Colony and fled in a cab.
- Police tracked the cab driver to Greater Noida, who said he dropped them at Pari Chowk.
- The first arrest was Suraj, who was caught near Ghaziabad’s Crossing Republic Mall.
- Based on Suraj’s confession, Sachin was arrested from Gautam Buddh Nagar.
What Did the Police Recover?
During the investigation, the police recovered:
✅ Stolen car of the professor
✅ Gold chain
✅ 37 silver coins
✅ 57 religious silver coins
✅ 10 silver bowls and 4 silver spoons
Maid’s Role Under Investigation
The police found that the maid attended Sachin’s sister’s wedding earlier this month. Her Aadhaar card shows her age as 17 years, but police suspect she is actually 19. They are verifying her school documents for confirmation.
Other Criminals Still Missing
- Suraj and Sachin have multiple criminal cases—Suraj (17 cases) and Sachin (14 cases).
- Two other criminals, Monu and Amit, are still on the run.
- The police are working to catch them soon.
This case highlights how trusted people can sometimes be involved in serious crimes. The police are now focusing on arresting the remaining culprits and ensuring strict action. 🚔
