The Indian cricket team has been performing well in T20 matches under the leadership of captain Suryakumar Yadav. However, Yadav’s poor batting form has become a major concern. Former cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin recently expressed his disappointment and urged Suryakumar to work seriously on his batting skills.

Ashwin’s Concerns

Team India recently won a five-match T20 series against England 4-1, but Suryakumar managed to score only 28 runs across the entire series. His scores were 0, 12, 14, 0, and 2. Ashwin commented on his YouTube channel “Ash Ki Baat” that Suryakumar is getting out in the same way repeatedly, trying to play a flick shot and making the same mistake each time. He compared Suryakumar’s struggles to those of Sanju Samson, who also failed to handle fast bowlers like Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, and Brydon Carse.

Ashwin’s Advice

Ashwin said, “Suryakumar’s captaincy has been impressive, but he needs to rethink his batting approach. It’s understandable if a player makes the same mistake in one or two matches, but repeating it throughout the series is concerning.”

He added, “Suryakumar is an experienced player and has significantly contributed to India’s T20 strategy. However, now is the time for him to reassess his batting style.”

Suryakumar’s Recent Performance

Here’s a look at Suryakumar’s recent performances:

  • 75 runs vs Bangladesh (Hyderabad, October 12, 2024)
  • 21 runs vs South Africa (Durban, November 8, 2024)
  • 4 runs vs South Africa (Gqeberha, November 10, 2024)
  • 1 run vs South Africa (Centurion, November 13, 2024)

  • 0 runs vs England (Pune, January 31, 2025)
  • 2 runs vs England (Wankhede, February 2, 2025)

Despite his impressive career stats of 2,598 runs in 83 T20 matches with 4 centuries and 21 fifties, Suryakumar has failed to score a fifty in the last nine matches. Fans and cricket experts hope he will soon regain his form and continue contributing to the team’s success.
