Just before the India-England ODI series, news has surfaced about a venue change for the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal match between Mumbai and Haryana. The match, originally scheduled to take place in Lahli, Haryana, has now been shifted to a new location.

Venue Change for Mumbai vs Haryana Match

The Ranji Trophy 2024-25 quarterfinals are set to be played between February 8 and 12. Mumbai and Haryana will face off in the third quarterfinal. According to reports, the match has been moved from Lahli to the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not provided a clear explanation for this decision, reports suggest that unavoidable circumstances led to the venue change. BCCI’s Development Manager, Abey Kuruvilla, has informed the Haryana Cricket Association and the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) about the decision.

Impact of the Venue Shift

The MCA had already booked flight tickets for its 18-member team, which was set to travel on Wednesday morning. An MCA official stated, “We were informed via email that the Ranji Trophy match between Haryana and Mumbai has been shifted from Lahli to Kolkata due to unavoidable circumstances. The Cricket Association of Bengal will now host the match and handle all arrangements.”

Cold and Fog Likely Behind the Change

Although BCCI hasn’t officially revealed the reason, it is believed that the venue was changed due to severe cold and fog in Lahli. Similar conditions have also affected Jammu & Kashmir’s team, which will now play its quarterfinal match in Pune instead of its home ground.

India-England ODI Series

Meanwhile, the much-anticipated three-match ODI series between India and England is set to begin on February 6. With the venue change for the Ranji Trophy, the focus remains on how these adjustments will impact domestic cricket and its players.
