RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat recently gave a statement on Islam, saying that “from the very first day Islam came to India, it has been here and it will always remain here.” His words have been welcomed by Pyare Khan, Chairman of the Maharashtra Minority Commission.

Pyare Khan’s Reaction

Pyare Khan praised the statement, calling it “very good and thoughtful.” He said that the entire Muslim community felt happy after hearing it. According to him, this statement is even more important because it comes at a time when Muslims are preparing to celebrate the 1500th birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad.

Message of Unity

Speaking to news agency ANI, Khan explained that this is a message for all people—that “we are working for the nation, not for caste or division.” He pointed out that some leaders and groups try to break the unity of the country, but such a message from Bhagwat shows the opposite and should be respected.

Khan also spoke about the idea of “Ideal Islam.” He said, “Ideal Islam means working for the country where you live. Whoever works for the nation is an ideal person. India already has many such Muslims.”

What Did Mohan Bhagwat Say?

During a Q&A session at the RSS centenary celebrations in Delhi, Bhagwat clarified the RSS stand on religion. He said that the organization does not believe in attacking anyone based on their religion.

He added that faith is a matter of personal choice and there should be no pressure or force to convert. Bhagwat emphasized:

  • “From the first day Islam entered India, it has been here and will remain here.”
  • “Thinking that Islam will disappear from India is not a Hindu way of thinking.”
  • “True Hindu thought is about harmony, not conflict. Once both sides accept this, the struggle will end. We all must believe that we are one.”
