In Muzaffarpur, Bihar, five children were injured after a bomb they were making exploded. The children had been trying to recreate what they saw in YouTube videos. They filled a torch with gunpowder and inserted a battery, which caused a powerful explosion.
The injured children were taken to a local Primary Health Centre (PHC) for treatment. Among them, one child is in serious condition, while the others have suffered partial burns.
Raghveer Yadav, the father of one of the injured children, said he received information that his child had been burned. When he arrived at the village, he learned that the injury was due to a bomb blast. He is uncertain whether someone had deliberately set off the bomb or if it was an accident.
All the injured children are from the same village, and three of them belong to the same family.
SSP’s Statement: SSP Rakesh Kumar explained that the children had been experimenting with bomb-making inspired by YouTube videos. They had removed gunpowder from matchsticks and put it in a torch. When they added a battery and turned on the torch, it caused the explosion.
The local police are investigating the incident.
