The Tamil Nadu government, led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, has taken decisive action in a case involving the sexual abuse of 13 minor girls at a fake National Cadet Corps (NCC) camp. The incident took place in the Krishnagiri district, where a camp was falsely organized under the name of NCC, although the NCC had not officially conducted such a camp.
In response to the serious nature of the case, CM Stalin has ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to thoroughly investigate the matter. Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer K. Bhavanehswari will lead the SIT, and the team has been tasked with speeding up the investigation and filing charges within 60 days.
The Tamil Nadu government has also formed a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to propose measures to prevent such incidents in the future. This team, led by Social Welfare Department Secretary Jayshree Muralidharan, will include representatives from the police and school education departments, among others.
The case came to light after reports of sexual abuse surfaced involving an eighth-grade student at the fake camp. So far, 11 people, including the main suspect, have been arrested. The investigation is ongoing to determine if other similar fake training camps have been conducted. The Chief Minister has instructed the authorities to ensure strict punishment for those involved in this crime.
