A sudden blast rocked the entire area in Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, on Friday (November 14, 2025). The explosion, which occurred inside the Nowgam Police Station premises, tragically killed at least 9 people, while 29 others are reported to be injured. The blast took place while officials were examining recovered explosive materials stored within the police complex.
Incident Details and Investigation Connection
Police and FSL officials were inspecting materials that had been seized as part of the ongoing investigation into the white-collar terror module case. It was during this procedure that a powerful explosion suddenly occurred in one section of the recovered material.
The explosion was so intense that several vehicles parked within the police station premises were damaged, and thick smoke covered the entire area. Fire department teams rushed to the spot, and all roads around the police station were immediately closed by the police.
Team Investigating Faridabad-Linked Case
This incident is connected to a larger case where a huge quantity of explosives was recovered from two houses in Faridabad, Haryana. The recovered materials included about 2,900 kg of Ammonium Nitrate, several bomb-making chemicals, electronic circuits, and a large quantity of explosive mixture. These materials were found in two rented rooms in the Dhauj and Fatehpur Taga villages of Faridabad.
Key Players in the Terror Module
The rented accommodation in Faridabad was taken by Dr. Muzammil Shakeel Ganie from Pulwama, who was a teacher at Al-Falah Medical College. He was arrested some weeks ago on charges of distributing radical posters.
Investigating officers believe that three doctors were involved in this entire network, which allegedly operated with the help of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).
The module primarily involved three individuals:
- Muzammil Shakeel Ganie (Arrested)
- Umar un Nabi (Died in the blast, likely the Delhi blast incident)
- Muzaffar Rather (Still absconding)
Their plan was reportedly to carry out major explosions in Delhi, Haryana, and Kashmir.
Nowgam Blast Investigation Ramped Up
Following the explosion at Nowgam Police Station, security agencies have heightened alertness across the region. Forensic teams are working to determine how the blast occurred and whether there was any mishandling of the explosive material.
