Independence Day 2024: On August 15, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will once again hoist the national flag at the Red Fort. Ahead of the Independence Day celebration, Delhi Police has tightened security in the capital, deploying over 10,000 police officers and 3,000 traffic police officers. Additionally, 700 AI-based facial recognition cameras have been installed, with high-resolution cameras inside and around the Red Fort to identify any suspicious individuals from a distance.
Security Measures:
Extra police and paramilitary forces are stationed at sensitive locations like Indira Gandhi International Airport, railway stations, bus terminals, malls, and markets. To manage traffic on Independence Day, more than 3,000 traffic police officers will be deployed at major intersections and roads leading to the Red Fort. Security agencies will use smartphone-based apps to verify the identity of people attending the event. Snipers, special SWAT commandos, kite catchers, and sharpshooters will be positioned at key locations for the safety of the Prime Minister and other VIP guests.
Metro Services from 4 AM:
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has made special arrangements for Independence Day. To facilitate travel for those attending the celebration, metro services will begin at 4:00 AM from all terminal stations on all lines.
