In IPL 2025, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) faced their third straight loss after being defeated by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Thursday. SRH failed to chase a target of 201 runs and got all out for just 120, losing by 80 runs. This loss pushed them to the bottom of the points table at position 10.
After the match, SRH captain Pat Cummins shared his frustration and disappointment—not with the batsmen, but with the team’s fielding.
💬 What Pat Cummins Said
Pat Cummins said,
“Tonight didn’t go well for us. After KKR’s innings, we thought the target was chaseable. It was a good batting pitch. But we gave away too many runs in the field, and our batting also failed. Losing 3 games in a row is not good for us.”
He added,
“Just two weeks ago, we scored 280 runs. The batters are trying their best, but maybe we need to think about trying something different.”
❌ Disappointed With Fielding
Cummins was especially upset with SRH’s fielding mistakes.
“What disappointed me the most was our fielding. We dropped catches and made errors that we need to fix. Our bowling wasn’t bad. KKR batted well at the end. We only bowled 3 overs of spin because there wasn’t much spin on the pitch. Pace bowlers using cutters worked better, so we followed that plan,” he explained.
📉 SRH’s Recent Performance
- SRH won their first match of IPL 2025 by 44 runs, scoring a massive 286 runs (second highest in IPL history).
- But after that, they lost to:
- Lucknow Super Giants
- Delhi Capitals
- Kolkata Knight Riders
Star batter Ishan Kishan, who hit a century in the first match, hasn’t performed well since then. Other batters are also struggling.
🆚 Next Match
- Sunrisers Hyderabad will play their next match against Gujarat Titans on 6th April 2025.
- The team hopes to bounce back and improve their position in the points table.
In short, Pat Cummins is asking his team to improve fielding and rethink strategies, rather than just blaming the batsmen for their poor performance.
