Thousands of WhatsApp users around the world faced technical problems, making it difficult to send or receive messages. Many users took to social media platform X to report the issue and share their frustration. With nearly three billion users worldwide, WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps.
WhatsApp Outage Details On Friday evening, WhatsApp experienced a major outage, affecting thousands of users. The issue started around 9 PM, and many people reported that their messages were not being delivered.
According to Down Detector, a website that tracks service outages, over 14,000 complaints were registered by 9:17 PM. The exact reason for the problem is still unknown, but the disruption impacted both personal and professional communication.
Reports indicated that London was the most affected city. However, other cities like Manchester and Glasgow also faced issues. Users from different parts of the world reported similar problems.
WhatsApp’s New Call Menu Meanwhile, WhatsApp is working on improving its call menu for both individual and group chats. The new design will help users manage calls better and prevent accidental dialing. This feature was seen in the latest beta version (2.25.5.8) for Android and is expected to be released in a future update.
Better Control Over Group Calls With the new call menu, users will have more control over group calls. Instead of calling all members at once, users will be able to choose specific participants before starting the call. This change will make group calls more flexible and user-friendly.
Quick Call Links for Easy Sharing The redesigned menu will also include a shortcut for generating call links. This feature will allow users to share call links quickly without having to go to the Calls tab. It will make inviting others to a call much easier.
Preventing Accidental Calls Currently, tapping the call button starts a voice or video call immediately, which can be inconvenient. The updated menu will require users to confirm their call choice before dialing. This will help reduce accidental calls and improve user experience.
WhatsApp users can expect these new features in upcoming updates, making the app more efficient and user-friendly.
