Former Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting has made a prediction about the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy series between India and Australia. The series will start on November 22 at Perth’s Optus Stadium.
Ponting predicts that Australia will win the series 3-1 against India. He believes this is a great opportunity for Australia to prove itself, especially since India won the series against Australia 2-1 in both 2018-19 and 2020-21. Australia has not won a Test series against India since 2014-15.
Ponting said in an ICC review, “This will be a tough series. Based on what happened in the last two series, Australia has a good chance to prove itself in Australia against India.”
He also noted that this series is special because it will have five Test matches, unlike recent series which have had only four. Ponting thinks everyone is excited about the five Test matches and doesn’t expect many draws in the series. He added, “I consider Australia the favorite to win. I would never bet against Australia. There might be a draw or bad weather in some matches, so I predict Australia will win 3-1.”
